After dwelling in a personal atmospheric black metal ("Nausea") and pure luminous post black ("Contrasts"), Imber Luminis comes back with a twist : going back to its depressive doom starts. The well-known "Same old sufferings" songs I & II, originally released digitally in 2011, have been slow hymns for a lot of us and now it's time to go back to it. As Déhà would say : "I don't like re-recordings much, it can kill the original ambiances and moods, but not this time.", and it says a lot about this album. A third part of the S.O.S. series appears and it is crushingly heavy, mixing a sense of DSBM de luxe with the heaviest of funeral doom.

While "Silence III", featuring the unknown-yet 'Dryáda' as guest vocalist, brings you back to the same year, 2011, of atmospheric-driven black metal with these melodies that will touch. S.III takes you where Nostalgia is paramount, and while Déhà offers what he can do best - emotions - , Dryáda enhances it all, as her screams were her first, powerful, innate, uncontrolled.

"Same Old Silences" is an album that goes back to what made Imber Luminis what it is now, and without a doubt is one of the highlights of the project

NONE a opéré un virage dans Where Life Should Be et ça se confirme davantage dans Damp Chill of Life. Le temps des métaphores est révolu : l'humidité froide, c'est celle des larmes qui coulent sur le visage à cause de la dépression. Tout pleure dans cet album : les guitares typées DSBM grésillent, les solos ("The Damp Chill of Life", "It's Painless To Let Go") sont liquides et coulent, les voix prennent à la gorge ; même le piano, étranglé par les sanglots ("Cease"), est aphone. This was truly a revelation. I was getting started with funeral doom, working on something with my headphones on... Then came Déluge... my jaw actually dropped, I stopped what I was doing and, wide-eyed, just listened to the track, baffled and amazed. After the album was over (I never do this), I went to lay down with my headphones to enjoy it over again. I rarely heard (and felt) this much power and emotion in an album. Until I find something better, this is my landmark for peak funeral doom. fluo

On ne frappe pas un homme à terre : c'est ce que dit la règle mais NONE a déjà prouvé qu'il ne les suivait pas et si son album éponyme retirait toute perspective de béatitude spirituelle, Life has gone on long enough, son deuxième opus, nous interdit l'accès au bonheur terrestre. La vie n'a aucune substance et la production plus distante le confirme. Le DSBM s'empare de textures sonores blues, mettant en relief une dépression urbaine. Les cris partent en fumées : ne restent que les pleurs... Jordan Vauvert

"La mort n'existe ni pour les vivants ni pour les morts" écrivait Épicure et ça reste toujours vrai : personne ne peut en faire l'expérience — sauf NONE, formation américaine qui en a fait son leitmotiv. Les membres du groupe sont inconnus et son premier album n'a pas de nom ; même le paysage sur la pochette est vaporeux. Si le DSBM est déjà d'une tristesse funèbre qui serre le cœur, les passages atmosphériques donnent à entendre les âmes en peine de l'autre côté du voile. Un début magistral... Jordan Vauvert
